Alumni Spotlight – Ana Bernardo

Ana Bernardo’s journey to Central Wyoming College is nothing short of inspiring. Growing up, soccer was more than just a sport for Ana—it was her passion, her dream, and her ticket to a brighter future. When she received a scholarship to play soccer at a college in Alabama, it seemed as though her dreams were coming true. But life had other plans.

Shortly after starting her first season in Alabama, Ana tore her ACL—a devastating injury for any athlete. The physical pain was immense, but the emotional toll was even heavier. To her dismay, the support she expected from her coaches and college was lacking. Struggling to recover on her own, Ana realized she needed to make a change. Determined not to let her dreams end with an injury, she began searching for a new opportunity. That’s when she discovered Central Wyoming College and the coaches. With compassion and understanding, The coaching staff offered her not only a scholarship but a chance to rekindle her love for soccer in an environment that genuinely cared about her well-being.

From the moment she arrived at CWC, Ana felt the difference. The campus was welcoming, and the community embraced her as one of their own. The coaches, teammates, and professors supported her not just as an athlete but as a person. “The people here genuinely care about your success,” Ana shared. “It’s not just about soccer or academics—they want to see you thrive in every aspect of your life.”

While pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Business, Ana found herself thriving both on and off the field. Her professors took the time to ensure she understood the material, and her coaches provided encouragement, even when she faced another injury. This time, unlike before, Ana wasn’t alone. The CWC staff rallied around her, helping her recover and return to the sport she loved.

Ana’s experiences have shaped her vision for the future. She dreams of using her marketing degree to help other students discover opportunities to attend college. Through social media and storytelling, Ana hopes to raise awareness about the importance of scholarships and the doors they can open. “If it weren’t for my scholarships, I wouldn’t have been able to attend college,” Ana explained. “They’re so important for students who can’t afford it.” Ana also has a deep desire to give back to the sport that has given her so much. She hopes to become a coach one day, helping young athletes achieve their dreams just as she has.

As Ana prepares for her final year at Central Wyoming College, she’s working closely with her coaches to secure a transfer to a four-year university where she can continue her education and play soccer. She feels immense gratitude toward her family, who supported her goal of attending college, and to God, whom she credits for giving her strength through the challenges she faced. “None of this would have been possible without the support of my family and the scholarships I received,” Ana said.

Ana Bernardo’s story is one of resilience, gratitude, and hope. From overcoming injuries to navigating life in Wyoming, Ana has shown what it means to rise above challenges. Her journey is a testament to the power of community, determination, and the belief that no dream is too big to achieve. As she moves forward, Ana is determined to inspire others —proving that with support and perseverance, the possibilities are endless.
