4th ANNUAL TETON POWWOW

WEEKEND SCHEDULE 2024

The Teton Powwow is a collaboration between Central Wyoming College and Native American Jump Start.

Friday, May 17, 2024:

Wind River Cultural Presentation
Center for the Arts Theatre, 240 S. Glenwood St., Jackson, WY 83001
Free one-hour presentations, 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.

Presented by the CWC Tribal Wisdom Society

Two informational and engaging one-hour-long presentations are developed with the interests of students in mind. Presenters are:

  • Hoop Dance demonstration and description of the history and traditions encompassed in the dance by Amya Whispering Rain Whelan, Eastern Shoshone, Northern Arapaho, and Ojibwe,  from the Wind River Reservation
  • Native American Sign Language demonstration and storytelling by Darious Tillman, a member of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe
  • Painters Al Hubbard, an enrolled member of the Arapaho Tribe, and Talissa Abeyta, an enrolled member of the Shoshone Tribe, will talk about being a contemporary Native American artist and their inspirations

Admission:
 To attend the powwow, there will be a $15.00 per car admission.  All Native Americans, are free
